| Notes on UNECE Nomenclature For Reporting (NFR) |
| |
The Nomenclature For Reporting (NFR) is a reporting structure that was introduced in 2001.
The NFR is used for submitting data to UNECE and EMEP.
The NFR reporting format has replaced the original "SNAP" reporting structure. The reason for introducing the
NFR was to address some short comings of the SNAP format. Although very similar to the original SNAP structure,
the NFR is more closely linked to the Common Reporting Format (CRF) used for submitting data to IPCC. As a result,
use of the NFR has reduced the burden on emission inventory compilers by decreasing the unnecessary duplication of effort.
Some sources are excluded from the remit of the NFR, and are therefore not included
here. Other sources come within the scope of the NFR reporting guidelines, but currently
have no suitable category within the reporting structure. Where possible, these have
been included to ensure a representative "national total emission" is obtained. |
